I have decided to start blogging under the new blog Sondering Shadows. ‘Sonder’ means the moment when you realise that other people are living other lives independent of your own. I just like the concept. I don’t know if this is goodbye to I Remember Delight just yet, but I know that I need a bit of change in my life at the moment. I want Sondering Shadows to be a blog that is kind of about anything that I want it to be about. So, if you like this blog then you should check out Sondering Shadows.
I am one of those people who gets stressed quite easily, so I have decided to compile a list for people like me. You may be studying for exams or just stressed out in general.
1. Deva Premal and the Gyuto Monks of Tibet – purification song.
2. Dr Who Soundtrack – Amy’s song
3. Ezios Family from the Assassins’s Creed 2 soundtrack
4. Once Upon a Time Orchestral Suite from the Once Upon a Time season one soundtrack
5. Belle’s story from the Once Upon a Time season one soundtrack – pretty much the entire soundtrack is awesome.
I hope this helps anyone who needs some calming down.
This week I’m going to do something a bit different. I’m going with a ‘theme’ of sorts, which in this case is quotes that are from or were quoted on the tv show ‘Criminal Minds’. I am in love with this show, but more importantly I think that sometimes they quote or say some really great things.
Most recently, and what inspired this post, was the statement Prentiss made at the end of the seventh series. Emily Prentiss has been through a fair bit and came back to the team at the start of the series, but it was growing evident that she didn’t want to be a part of the BAU anymore and wanted to leave. In the series finale, she made her decision and said this:
“I’ve always heard, every ending is also a beginning. We just don’t know it at the time. I’d like to believe that’s true.”
I think it is a really inspiring statement, because we all face hard decisions and sometimes we have to walk away from a good thing. We don’t have to walk away pessimistic and depressed.
Another quote I like was quoted by Morgan at the end of the season four episode ‘The Big Wheel’
“No matter how dark the moment, love and hope are always possible.” George Chakiris
In my opinion this is great because it is true, but it is something that when you are in a bad place you can forget. I know I have in the past. I think Criminal Minds is a fascinating show and it illustrates that even though the content is dark it also is about the small victories and how without hope the world would be a lot darker.
I’ve decided to slightly expand Self-Help Wednesday from just quotes from books to quotes in general. I actually have a book of quotes that I collected myself when I was about fifteen, so I think it would be interesting to share them here. I’m going to skip over the (typical?) ‘I hate school so here’s a list of anti-school quotes’ page(s) because I’m not in school anymore, and it’s nearly summer so no one cares. I’ll probably post them some other time.
‘If you don’t like what you’re doing, then don’t do it’ Ray Bradbury
I really like this one. It is simple and straight-forward. I find it impossible to follow at the current point in my life, but I think it is sound advice and I wish I’d remembered it a year or two ago.
‘Creative minds are rarely tidy’
I don’t actually know who said this. For some reason I just never wrote down who coined this one. I love it though, partially because I’m a messy person 🙂
‘Sometimes you’ve got to let everything go – purge yourself. If you are unhappy with anything… whatever is bringing you down get rid of it. Because you’ll find that when you’re free, your true creativity, your true self comes out’ Tina Turner
Wouldn’t it be great if you could just purge all the bad things out of your life? I know I’d love to.
